Young people need to know how to make healthy decisions so they can grow up to BE GREAT!

Date Smart –

is a supplement to SMART Girls and Passport to Manhood, and an exciting new resource for Club members ages 13 to 18. Through fun and easy-to-use sessions, members learn how to achieve mutually supportive relationships free of violence and abuse. The program also encourages youth to become community advocates for relationships that promote equality and respect, while combating the attitudes and behaviors that lead to sexual and domestic violence.

SMART Girls –

for girls ages 8-12 and 13-17, a small group program designed to enhance emotional well-being, promote positive body image, and increase self-esteem that teaches young women to critically analyze the world around them. Through highly participatory dynamic sessions, Club girls explore their own and societal attitudes and values as they build skills for eating right, staying physically fit, getting good healthcare and developing positive relationships with peers and adults.

Healthy Habits –

designed for ages 6 to 18, the program aims to incorporate healthy living and active learning in every part of the Club experience. Healthy Habits, which is also the “Mind” component of Triple Play: A Game for the Mind, Body and Soul, emphasizes good nutrition, regular physical activity and improving overall well-being. Cooking Club and Positive Sprouts are programs under the Healthy Habits umbrella. The Positive Sprouts gardening program is BGCA’s comprehensive community gardening initiative, which strives to improve children’s habits of health and nutrition through the process of growing food for themselves. This program focuses on improving healthy habits for Club members by building and maintaining community gardens and providing Clubs with tools and resources to start their own gardens. The Positive Sprouts curriculum teaches youth about nutrition, gardening practices and cooking from the garden.

Passport to Manhood –

promotes and teaches responsibility for Club boys ages 11-14 through sessions which concentrate on a specific aspect of manhood through highly interactive activities. Each Club member who participates in this program is issued a “passport” to underscore the notion that he is on a personal journey of maturation and growth.

Triple Play Body –

offering a variety of sports activities to introduce physical play while encouraging active lifestyles, skills for stress management, appreciation for the environment, improved social skills, and teamwork through basketball teams which compete in area leagues. Wanna Play is a baseball instructional program that is a part of Triple Play Body.

Triple Play Soul –

organized activities offering a wide variety of games and activities to encourage participation, expand option of play, and teach sportsmanship.
