Academic success

We want every Boys & Girls Club of Dayton member to do well in school, ultimately graduating from high school on time with a plan for their future that includes post-secondary education.

Career Launch –

designed for ages 13-18, to assess their skills and interests, explore careers, make sound educational decisions and prepare to join our nation’s ever-changing work force.

Money Matters –

targeted to teen members, aims to increase members’ knowledge of money management while developing skills needed for a lifetime of financial independence. Money Matters utilizes appealing and interactive activities to engage members, and enable them to learn by gaining real-life experience and practice through simulated exercises, programs, and events. Participants learn how to open a checking account, budget, save and invest, as well as learning about small businesses, paying for college and investing for retirement.

Diplomas to Degrees –

A comprehensive program for ages 13-18 that provides structured activities to guide the planning and preparation for college or higher education. This exciting program assesses readiness of Club members, helps them explore areas of interest and potential career fields, assists in establishing goals, and helps Club members prepare future plans.

Power Hour –

an engaging, homework help and tutoring program that encourages Club members, ages 6-18, to become self-directed learners.  Power Hour is run 5 days a week at all Club sites.

Fine Arts –

encourages artistic expression among Club members, ages 6-18, through drawing, painting, print making, creating collages, mixed media and sculpture displayed at the Boys & Girls Clubs yearly art exhibit with a chance to advance to the regional and national exhibit.

Project Learn –

reinforces and enhances the skills and knowledge young people learn at school through high yield learning activities at the Club.  In the absence of homework, all Club members are engaged in other education activities, including reading, practice worksheets, spelling bees, Book Club, and participation utilizing Kid’s College computer software that is designed to improve academic skills and state test performance for grades 1st-8th.
