You can be that person when you become a Boys & Girls Clubs of Dayton volunteer.
Current Volunteer Opportunities
Reading Buddies (Grades K-3)
Boys & Girls Clubs of Dayton has implemented a specialized literacy assistance program. The K- 3rd Grade Reading Initiative targets youth in these specific grades to assist in developing reading skills at an early age as the research is clear: reading proficiency by third grade is the most important predictor of high school graduation and career success. Without prolific reading skills, our Club members stand little chance of succeeding as adults. Each Club youth enrolled in the program has a dossier that contains specific reading materials that support their academic needs.
Time Commitment: Reading Buddies commit to 30 minutes each week for 8-12 weeks (or longer if desired).
Family Game Nights (Grades K-8)
In an effort to build and enhance caregiver relations at the Club, BGCD will host a quarterly Family Game Night. These events will feature the opportunity for youth and families to engage with Club staff and corporations in a fun and relaxed environment that encourages quality family time, while fostering key life skills and educational components.
Time Commitment: 2 hours each quarter (September, January, April, July)
Career Launch Mentors
The Club recognizes the critical need to partner teens with career mentors. Our Career Launch program helps teens ages 13-18 explore career interests and pathways. Each week, teens engage in a structured program that focuses on high school, and life after. Our goal is to ensure that upon high school graduation, all teens graduate from our program with a viable plan to attend college or trade school, enter the workforce, or join the military. Mentors will work with Club staff to help teens create SMART Goals for the year, develop job readiness skills, and explore career paths through seminars, on-site visits, etc.
Time Commitment: 1 hours each week beginning in September.

Program Assistance
Help support our youth development programs, be a guest speaker, art room helper, games room helper, homework helper, mealtime buddy, or recreational assistant.
Event Support
Help with planning, marketing, registration, set up/breakdown & every fun thing in between programming events, Day for Kids, Lights on Afterschool, Halloween/Haunted House, Early Turkey Day.
Service Learning
Build your resume, develop a career network, enhance your education, and serve your community with our youth development operations & programs, fundraising, events, marketing, and volunteer services.
